Hatun Karpay (left side)
ANCIENT INITIATION JOURNEY IN PERU
This whole procedure was developed centuries ago by Inka priests. To this day it has been passed down orally from master to student, most recently from Don Melchor Deza, a famous paqo and teacher from a little village near Cusco, to Juan Núñez del Prado.
This Hatun Karpay emphasizes the development of your intuition and inner perception in order to achieve clarity and self-knowledge. The left-side path stands for the action-driven side and supports you in achieving externally visible results in your life as an expression of your inner development.
During this spiritual journey, you will work primarily with the energies of water, which teaches you how to live its personal power with vibrancy, agility and compassion. This energetic process opens you up to a new power that, according to the prophecy of the Incas, is connected to the next higher level of human consciousness.
Hatun Karpay takes you to powerful places and temples, such as Machu Picchu, Moray, Saqsaywaman, the Wiraqocha temple and Lake Titicaca. Even if you are not yet familiar with the Inca tradition, you are warmly invited to join this spiritual journey.
Please find all information about the Hatun Karpay (right side) here.

You will also get to know the other group members and find out with whom you share the room with during the trip.
Day 2: Cusco/ Cusco region
You begin this wonderful journey with a beautiful ceremony in which you open yourself to the power of the female spirit of Cusco and connect with the seven levels of the Andean path.
You will then travel with the group to an ancient Inka city to perform powerful water rituals. You will connect this place with the power place of the Lord of Huanca.
Day 3: Sacred Valley
Journey to the Sacred Valley of Cusco, the original land of the Inkas.
This day takes you to an ancient place that is connected to the powers of the “Lord of Healing”. From there you will continue to the city of Pisaq, where you will connect with the seven levels of the spiritual tradition of the Inkas with the help of water.
Day 4: Sacred Valley
Today you will go through a series of ceremonies – rituals with the feminine center, which is associated with the power of well-being.
This is followed by a ritual with the forces of joy and partnership; with the Anaconda, the symbol of personal power, the creative power of nature and the forces of the lower world. In the temple of Sayri Tupac you will be in touch with the forces of femininity.
Day 5: Sacred Valley
In one of the few Inka cities that have been continuously inhabited for the last 500 years, you will experience various ceremonies:
At the source of Mother Water, Tawantin (the symbol of perfection), Yanantin (harmonious integration of two different energies) and the condor, you will feel the continuity of the Inka tradition.
Day 6: Sacred Valley
Today you connect with your eight helpers and the seven levels of the Andean path. You will also establish a connection with a powerful female mountain spirit as well as the guardian of the knowledge of the Willka energy.
Back in Cusco, you work with the image of a child, which is now regarded as a symbol of the power of Cusco.
Day 7: Cusco
In the ruins of an ancient Inka palace and temple, now the site of an important church, you will release a great deal of heavy energy through the connections to the Stone of Wiraqocha (“God”), the Virgin Mary, the Black Christ and other spirits.
This is followed by an initiation into the power of the sacred city of Cusco through the connection with the seven energy centers of the Puma.
Day 8: Machu Picchu
Today you will travel to Machu Picchu, the famous temple complex above the city of Aguas Calientes.
After a relaxing train ride, the bus will take you up to the ruins. Once at the top, you will connect with the sacred city of Machu Picchu and harmonize the forces of the puma and the hummingbird (the symbol of Machu Picchu).
Day 9: Lake Titicaca
On the way to Lake Titicaca, you will stop at one of the largest and most important temples of the Inka tradition in South America.
There you will hold a ceremony with the four princesses of the water. The journey then continues to Pucara and from there onwards to Puno at Lake Titicaca.
Day 10: Lake Titicaca
You will perform several rituals and ceremonies at the Anaconda Gate. This is a very special place whose secluded location and powerful energy underline the quality of this place of power.
Day 11: Lake Titicaca
At the famous royal tombs and the underwater city of Humayu, you will perform the final ceremonies and complete your initiation process. The Hatun Karpay ends at around 8am.

In terms of physical stamina, you should be able to go for one-hour walks in low mountain ranges. If you are uncertain, please speak to a doctor you trust.
Due to unpredictable weather conditions and other factors, the actual itinerary or content may differ from this description.
Unfortunately, the Hatun Karpay is not suitable for wheelchair users due to the nature of the paths.
The event starts on the first day at 5 pm in Cusco. I will let you know the meeting point in good time.
Airport pick-up service
All participants organize the transport from the airport in Cusco to the city centre by themselves. Licensed cabs are available at the airport and the drivers can always identify themselves with an official ID. The trip to the city center costs around 25$ to 35$ (depending on language and negotiation skills).
Many hotels offer to pick up their guests, which is usually cheaper than calling a cab at the airport.
Staying in Cusco
In case you arrive in Cusco a few days before the start of this trip and would like to see the city, I recommend that you allow an extra 2-3 days due to the altitude. You will probably need these days to adapt to the unfamiliar conditions. If you need accommodation in Cusco, check out https://booking.com, as almost all hotels in the city are listed there and you can quickly find a suitable hotel based on the pictures and current prices as well as in your preferred language.
The trip ends on the last day at 8am near Lake Titicaca (not in Cusco). A free-of-charge shuttle-bus will take you to the airport in Juliaca (JUL), arrival at the airport around 10am.
If you would like to leave earlier or later the hotel will be happy to help you book a taxi. At the airport you need to pay the driver in cash.
Due to the pandemic, all airlines have significantly reduced their flight connections to Peru and are now slowly building up their capacities again. As of my experience you can expect to pay around EUR 1,200 to EUR 1,800 for a flight to Peru depending on travel time, airline and number of stop-overs.
For all flights to Cusco with a stopover in Lima, suitcases must be collected in Lima (as of Sept. 2021), as customs control takes place there. The suitcases for the onward flight to Cusco must then be checked in again at the counter of the relevant airline. When booking your flight, you should therefore allow at least 3 hours for a layover in Lima, especially if you are flying to Lima with a European/US airline and traveling on to Cusco from there on the same day with a local airline.
For domestic flights to Cusco and from Puno, I recommend LATAM, LC Peru, Avianca, Peruvian and Viva Air. I can’t really recommend Star Peru, as their fleet is outdated and often cannot take off or land in fog or bad weather. As a result, you run the risk of arriving late at your destination.
Peru has an extremely good and varied cuisine. A vegetarian diet is easily possible there whereas vegan food is still quite unknown in various places. In Cusco itself, for example, there are only two vegan restaurants and almost none outside the city, so Juan and Ivan can’t guarantee vegan food on this trip.
I recommend that participants with food intolerances (gluten, cow’s milk, sugar, certain types of fruit or vegetables, etc.) bring their necessary basics with them. Jun and Ivan will try to cater to individual needs with the service staff at each location.
It is Juan and Ivan’s aim is to book nice 4-star hotels for the entire trip.
If you would like a single room for the duration of the trip, you can book this during the registration process. The surcharge for the entire trip is EUR 990.
Approximately two to three months before the start of the trip, I will distribute the hotel list, a packing list with recommendations and detailed information about weather/climate, clothing, cash/currency, internet/WiFi, adapters/electricity and more.
In most cases you will find general travel information, safety advice, entry requirements or medical advice for Peru on your State Department’s website. Germany’s State Department, for example, states that passports must be valid for at least 6 months before entering Peru.
In case you understand Spanish please visit the official website of Peru’s State Department.
Please check your State Department’s website for further information.
When traveling to the designated yellow fever areas, especially for the entire Peruvian Amazon region, all travelers aged 9 months or older are strongly recommended to be vaccinated in good time, i.e. 10 days before entry. Coming from the Peruvian Amazon region, the vaccination may be required for onward travel to a third country (information: as of January 2017). Please note that during the Hatun Karpay you DO NOT visit the Amazon region.
As of today, the state of emergency and all COVID-19 related restrictions were lifted on Oct 26, 2022. Short-term changes to the requirements and random PCR tests by the Peruvian authorities cannot be ruled out.
You can take part in this trip regardless of whether you have full COVID-19 vaccination protection or a current recovered status. However, it is your responsibility to ensure that you comply at all times with the legal regulations that apply in your country as well as in Peru.
The two travel organizers, Juan and Ivan Nuñez del Prado, plan this trip up to 8 months in advance without knowing how the infection situation will develop and what legal requirements will be necessary at the start of the trip. As the travel groups are quite small and take place in an almost family atmosphere, they cannot afford to confirm the trip (and thus make all necessary booking incl. their own flight tickets) if official regulations later prohibit unvaccinated participants from accessing hotels, restaurants or power places, so that these people therefore cancel their booking.
This may make the travel group so small that they actually have to cancel the trip, but cannot do so as all the other participants have already booked their flights and would not be reimbursed for these costs if they were to cancel. Together with the cancellation costs that incur in Peru, the trip involves an incalculable financial risk for them under these circumstances.
I therefore strongly recommend that you take out travel cancellation insurance when booking this trip, which also covers the financial risks of contracting COVID-19. Otherwise, there is a risk that you will lose the travel price you have already paid in the event of cancellation.
Furthermore, there is a possibility that participants may be excluded from the trip at short notice in the event of a positive CoVID-19 test (also on site). In this case, the tour price will not be refunded.
Since life is not always predictable and plannable, I strongly recommend that you take out travel cancellation insurance, as this (in many cases) will cover cancellation fees and protect you from the financial consequences should you be unable to participate in this trip.
Please note Inka World’s cancellation fees. I adhere to the legal regulations for travel agents; I therefore explicitly place the responsibility for incidents that lie outside my responsibility in your hands.
Especially with regard to illnesses such as COVID-19 or sudden family incidents, travel cancellation insurance is really recommended. Please do not transfer this personal risk to Inka World, as I may not be able to be as accommodating as I would like to be.
In my opinion, international health insurance is necessary whereas accident insurance is sensible (but not essential).
All events involve significant financial commitments in addition to booking, transaction, travel and/or marketing costs. Since the groups are small and rather informal (and I also spend quite a significant amount of time on counseling and answering questions) Inka World charges cancellation fees in the event that you cancel your participation before the start of the event.
These cancellation fees are based on the time of your cancellation and are staggered as follows:
- Up to 91 days before the start of the tour: a flat rate of 25% of the tour price
- 90 to 45 days before the start of the tour: a flat rate of 50% of the tour price
- 44 days to 15 days before the start of the tour: a flat rate of 75% of the tour price
- 14 days or less before the start of the trip: a flat rate of 90% of the trip price
If you are unable to participate in the trip, you are free to provide a replacement person. As soon as this person has paid the full travel price, you will be refunded the participation fee already paid less a processing fee of EUR 50. Please note that Inka World does not pay any bank charges for the refund of the participation fee.
