Hatun Karpay (left path)

ANCIENT INITIATION JOURNEY IN PERU

Hatun Karpay means Great Power or Great Transformation. In this spiritual journey you follow a well-defined process in which you undergo a cycle of initiations and rituals that help you train your spirituality, discover your full potential and develop your personal power.

This whole procedure was developed centuries ago by Inka priests. To this day it has been passed down orally from master to student, most recently from Don Melchor Deza, a famous paqo and teacher from a little village near Cusco, to Juan Núñez del Prado.

This Hatun Karpay emphasizes the development of your intuition and inner perception in order to achieve clarity and self-knowledge. The left-side path stands for the action-driven side and supports you in achieving externally visible results in your life as an expression of your inner development.

During this spiritual journey, you will work primarily with the energies of water, which teaches you how to live its personal power with vibrancy, agility and compassion. This energetic process opens you up to a new power that, according to the prophecy of the Incas, is connected to the next higher level of human consciousness.

Hatun Karpay takes you to powerful places and temples, such as Machu Picchu, Moray, Saqsaywaman, the Wiraqocha temple and Lake Titicaca. Even if you are not yet familiar with the Inca tradition, you are warmly invited to join this spiritual journey.

IMPORTANT NOTES

General

The Hatun Karpay takes place if at least 6 people register two months before the start of the trip. Therefore, please book your flights or other services only once you received written confirmation that this trip will actually take place.

The invoice for this trip does not include VAT, as it is arranged on behalf of Mistic Inka Trail, Ivan Nuñez del Prado. After your booking, a deposit of 33% of the tour price is due within one week, the balance 6 weeks before the start of the trip.

The event starts on the first day at 5 pm in Cusco (I will let you know the meeting point in good time) and ends on the last day in Puno at Lake Titicaca. A free-of-charge shuttle bus will take you to the airport in Juliaca.

You do not need any special knowledge about the Inka spirituality in order to participate in this trip. All information from from Juan and Ivan incl. the exercise instructions on-site will be given in English and Spanish language. If you prefer Italian translation please check with me before your registration.

In terms of physical stamina, you should be able to go for one-hour walks in low mountain ranges. If you are uncertain, please speak to a doctor you trust.

Due to unpredictable weather conditions and other factors, the actual itinerary or content may differ from this description.

Unfortunately, the Hatun Karpay is not suitable for wheelchair users due to the nature of the paths.

Arrival

The event starts on the first day at 5 pm in Cusco. I will let you know the meeting point in good time.

Airport pick-up service

All participants organize the transport from the airport in Cusco to the city centre by themselves. Licensed cabs are available at the airport and the drivers can always identify themselves with an official ID. The trip to the city center costs around 25$ to 35$ (depending on language and negotiation skills).

Many hotels offer to pick up their guests, which is usually cheaper than calling a cab at the airport.

Staying  in Cusco

In case you arrive in Cusco a few days before the start of this trip and would like to see the city, I recommend that you allow an extra 2-3 days due to the altitude. You will probably need these days to adapt to the unfamiliar conditions. If you need accommodation in Cusco, check out https://booking.com, as almost all hotels in the city are listed there and you can quickly find a suitable hotel based on the pictures and current prices as well as in your preferred language.

Departure

The trip ends on the last day at 11am near Lake Titicaca (not in Cusco). A free-of-charge shuttle-bus will take you to the airport in Juliaca (JUL), arrival at the airport around 12pm and also to the bus station in Juliaca (arrival at 12:20pm).

Food/Catering

Peru has an extremely good and varied cuisine. A vegetarian diet is easily possible there whereas vegan food is still quite unknown in various places. In Cusco itself, for example, there are only two vegan restaurants and almost none outside the city, so Juan and Ivan can’t guarantee vegan food on this trip.

I recommend that participants with food intolerances (gluten, cow’s milk, sugar, certain types of fruit or vegetables, etc.) bring their necessary basics with them. Jun and Ivan will try to cater to individual needs with the service staff at each location.

Hotels/Accommodation

It is Juan and Ivan’s aim is to book nice 4-star hotels for the entire trip.

If you would like a single room for the duration of the trip, you can book this during the registration process. The surcharge for the entire trip is EUR 990.

Vaccination/COVID-19

Please check your State Department’s website for further information.

Yellow fever
When traveling to the designated yellow fever areas, especially for the entire Peruvian Amazon region, all travelers aged 9 months or older are strongly recommended to be vaccinated in good time, i.e. 10 days before entry. Coming from the Peruvian Amazon region, the vaccination may be required for onward travel to a third country (information: as of January 2017). Please note that during the Hatun Karpay you DO NOT visit the Amazon region.

COVID-19
As of today, the state of emergency and all COVID-19 related restrictions were lifted on Oct 26, 2022. Short-term changes to the requirements and random PCR tests by the Peruvian authorities cannot be ruled out.

You can take part in this trip regardless of whether you have full COVID-19 vaccination protection or a current recovered status. However, it is your responsibility to ensure that you comply at all times with the legal regulations that apply in your country as well as in Peru.

The two travel organizers, Juan and Ivan Nuñez del Prado, plan this trip up to 8 months in advance without knowing how the infection situation will develop and what legal requirements will be necessary at the start of the trip. As the travel groups are quite small and take place in an almost family atmosphere, they cannot afford to confirm the trip (and thus make all necessary booking incl. their own flight tickets) if official regulations later prohibit unvaccinated participants from accessing hotels, restaurants or power places, so that these people therefore cancel their booking.

This may make the travel group so small that they actually have to cancel the trip, but cannot do so as all the other participants have already booked their flights and would not be reimbursed for these costs if they were to cancel. Together with the cancellation costs that incur in Peru, the trip involves an incalculable financial risk for them under these circumstances.

I therefore strongly recommend that you take out travel cancellation insurance when booking this trip, which also covers the financial risks of contracting COVID-19. Otherwise, there is a risk that you will lose the travel price you have already paid in the event of cancellation.

Furthermore, there is a possibility that participants may be excluded from the trip at short notice in the event of a positive CoVID-19 test (also on site). In this case, the tour price will not be refunded.

Insurance

Since life is not always predictable and plannable, I strongly recommend that you take out travel cancellation insurance, as this (in many cases) will cover cancellation fees and protect you from the financial consequences should you be unable to participate in this trip.

Please note Inka World’s cancellation fees. I adhere to the legal regulations for travel agents; I therefore explicitly place the responsibility for incidents that lie outside my responsibility in your hands.

Especially with regard to illnesses such as COVID-19 or sudden family incidents, travel cancellation insurance is really recommended. Please do not transfer this personal risk to Inka World, as I may not be able to be as accommodating as I would like to be.

In my opinion, international health insurance is necessary whereas accident insurance is sensible (but not essential).

Cancellation fees

All events involve significant financial commitments in addition to booking, transaction, travel and/or marketing costs. Since the groups are small and rather informal (and I also spend quite a significant amount of time on counseling and answering questions) Inka World charges cancellation fees in the event that you cancel your participation before the start of the event.

These cancellation fees are based on the time of your cancellation and are staggered as follows:

  • Up to 91 days before the start of the tour: a flat rate of 25% of the tour price
  • 90 to 45 days before the start of the tour: a flat rate of 50% of the tour price
  • 44 days to 15 days before the start of the tour: a flat rate of 75% of the tour price
  • 14 days or less before the start of the trip: a flat rate of 90% of the trip price

If you are unable to participate in the trip, you are free to provide a replacement person. As soon as this person has paid the full travel price, you will be refunded the participation fee already paid less a processing fee of EUR 50. Please note that Inka World does not pay any bank charges for the refund of the participation fee.

Further information

As soon as Juan and Ivan confirmed that the Hatun Karpay takes place, I will send to all participants a PDF file that contains many information on topics such as flights, passport/visa, weather/climate, clothing, cash/currency, internet/Wi-Fi, adapters/electricity and more as well as a packing list for cloths.

In case you have any questions please don’t hesitate to send me an email.
